Would have liked to hike to the base of Torres Del Paine on our last day. The group would have been divided in what they wanted to do at that point and I think our guide tried to make the best decision for the entire group. It would have been nice to have a bit more hiking in the itinerary. We might not have felt that way if we hadn’t missed one day, which was a hiking day due to the strike
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Members of our group spoke fluent Spanish, which also contributed to what a good time we had. I would recommend trying to learn at least some basic Spanish. Swoops packing list and reinforcement to pack for all kinds of weather was really useful.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes, in many ways! I really appreciated both the cultures of Argentina and Chile and the respect they have for the majesty of Patagonia. The Landscape is moving and I don’t think I’m the same person after experiencing it. Really appreciated the core values of the people in both Argentina and Chile. The relationships they have with each other and with the land reinforced and inspired what is most important to me as well. This was a trip of a lifetime and I am eternally grateful.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
As stated earlier, I think the Argentina portion of the trip could’ve used a point person on the ground. That made a big difference when we were in Chile working with Nativo Chile.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
Completely prepared and totally excited!
