Tell us about the Trekking
Our guide was fabulous but not attached to Swoop but independent and that was confusing as well and not something I was aware of but he was great.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Ask more questions. We also overpacked based on the info from swoop and when our guide picked us up at hotel in Puerto Veras for flight to Pumalin I thought he might have a stroke. We had to regroup very quickly down to one bag for all three of us due to weight limits. Not something that was discussed at any point. We left luggage with hotel in Puerto Veras and returned to it so it all worked out but it was a fast and unnerving pivot and we literally were out in the middle of nowhere with no ability to purchase anything we might have left behind indavertently. I think If I did this again I would have a collapsable duffle that I could offload trekking clothing into and make sure that I am leaving my luggage someplace that I am returning to before departing for home country.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
This trip needed better planning despite the use of Swoop of which is why I turned to them. It was a good trip to Pumalin but we missed the glacier hike and had an abbreviated last day and then had another delay due to weather outbound so...maybe a different park should have been recommended or chosen idk. I am not the expert but what I did learn is that weather delays is normal this time of year for Chaiten/Pumalin.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
One person from start to finnish. I was highly annoyed to be turned over to someone else and not have a direct line of communication to that person. For day hikes you need to revise your videos. We had to much stuff based on the video. Be clear about weight restriction for flights! The weight is based on the group not each person in the group. We looked unprepared and rediculous at hotel when we scrambled. Had we known we could have taken only what we needed for the Pumalin portion of the trip and packed the night before in collapsible duffle bags. The Chaiten Volcano Hike cannot be done on a travel day. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be shot! Thankfully our guide made a change. It demonstrates a lack of knowledge or care for your consumer. Again if my change to intinerary caused the problem then I should have been told about this before the change was implemented.
