Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
1. Stay light. You carry your own stuff. No need to carry your own snacks unless you have dietary restrictions. 2. Be prepared to be wet and don't go by what the weather report looks like. It does change every 10 mins. 3. Carry Ziplock bags/drybags/trash bags etc for wet clothing, put over your feet in your wet boots and also to keep your stuff waterproof in your backpack. No matter how good your pack cover is, your bag will get wet. 4. Credit cards(Amex) worked everywhere. 5. Wi-Fi is good in communal areas and you can purchase it at Refugio's for $$ (about $10 for 1 hr, $14 for 3 etc.) 6. 1 good rain jacket, 1 buff, 1 down jacket, 2 top base layer, 1 full sleeve sun shirt, 1 warm beanie, 1 athletic cap, 3 pairs of socks, 1 lightweight quick drying hiking pant, and 1 pair of clothes for Refugio/sleeping was all I needed(in early Nov). Did not use down jacket except while at Grey Glacier. My base layers, buff and sun shirt were thin enough to dry overnight after being rinsed. I mostly wore 1 base layer, 1 sun shirt and rain jacket during the day. Never had to wear Fleece.
