Tell us about the Trekking
I cannot say enough about how great Chile Nativo was. Cristina completely made up for our early trip issues, got us a gift for our troubles that weren't even her fault, and then was the best guide ever. We keep talking about how special she made our trip. Mathias, the driver, was also unbelievable, as he gave my dad his hiking shoes when my dad forgot his. He also offered his jacket on several occasions. A rockstar duo between them, and Hotel Del Paine was awesome. The whole experience in Torres del Paine was amazing because of Chile Nativo.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Make sure you are in contact with the local companies that you are booking with. Have cash to tip drivers and guides, etc. Make sure to bring rain resistant stuff, and bring all your layers on every hike. Bring hiking poles!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes, a ton. It makes me want to see more of the world, and it makes me want to come back to Patagonia.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Please figure out what happened to us in Punta Arenas/Puerto Natales and make sure that it doesn't happen to any other group! Incredibly anxiety-inducing at the beginning of the trip and completely avoidable. Send tickets for excursions beforehand, don't just give them to guides etc, because as we experienced, they sometimes don't show up.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
I was incredibly excited and felt very prepared. I wish I would have brought another rain layer, but that is it.
