Tell us about Torres del Paine

Other travellers should not under estimate the physical demand of this trek, but it is incredibly beautiful and well worth the effort. Staying at Refugio Grey is a must, so you can get better views of the glacier in. We walked about 2-3km further north (along the O route) to get a closer viewing point which was definitely worth it. Vistas throughout the treks are wonderful and we felt it was so beneficial having a guide to tell us about the flora, fauna, and geology. The guide was also super helpful for planning the days and knowing the best places to stop. We really loved our guide Cristobal from Chile Nativo.

Tell us about Los Glaciares

We felt we could have done without the guided tours on this leg of the trip - the trails are generally pretty well marked. There are some benefits (e.g. starting the hike to Laguana de los Tres further up the valley, though this could probably be achieved by taxi if desired), but we felt post the W Trek, we didn't really need the guide here. We also recommend exploring the Valley De Las Vueltas to other travellers, as that area offered some really incredible views.

Tell us about Tierra del Fuego

We were so impressed by all the tours here. We loved the food experience and the boat trip in particular.

Tell us about the Trekking

We loved our guide from Chile Nativo (Cristobal). We would absolutely recommend using a guide for the W Trek, but some of the other hikes (El Chalten) it is less necessary. This was a really incredible experience all around.

Tell us about the Excursions

Our excursions, particuarly in Terra del Fuego, were really phenomenal. I would really recommend the boat trip and foodie experience. The guides were super interesting / knowledgable and fun!

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

The refugios were well equipped with bedding. We didn't need pillows at any point. We did not end up packing rain pants, and we were ok (we had rain covers for our bags and good rain jackets); however, I think we got somewhat lucky with that, as we didn't get much rain. We brought a lot of snacks, but were surprised how well stocked the lunches were and didn't feel we needed so much.

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?

We felt pretty well prepared. We appreciated the webinar ahead of the W Trek (especially having a recording to reference as we got closer to the trip). We were super excited and our expectations were surpassed!
