Tell us about the Trekking
Trekking for me was quite challenging. I would have liked to have been more prepared for how difficult it was. But the guides were incredibly encouraging and I learned a lot about how to improve my technique from them while I was there even when I was struggling. I never got the impression that anyone was losing their patience or anything like that. It was definitely a challenge and felt great when I had completed it.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Go. It’s the trip of a lifetime. You shouldn’t wait to see this. There are so many changes in the environment that you really need to go now.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes. I was intimidated in general about some of the physical nature of the activity. But I found that the completion of these things provide provided me with a great deal of satisfaction. Also, I was so exhausted. I slept like a rock.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I would suggest to people who are going that they consider their activity level or talk to them a little bit about how they might prepare for some of the longer hikes. Even if it’s building in a 30 minute walk each day or something like that.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
Both yes to prepared and know to prepare prepared. We definitely got a lot of great information from Alicia about what we should bring clothing wise. I’ve made my comments before.
