A major contributory into the Lago General Carrera, the source of the Rio Ibanez lies somewhere amid the foothills of the Hudson Volcano, just north of the North Patagonian Ice Cap. Running past Cerro Castillo national Park, it flows all the way to Puerto Ibanez on the northern shore of the Lago General Carrera.
