Glaciar Martial lies just a few kilometres away from the city of Ushuaia, and can be reached by trekking, in contrast to most glaciers in this area which can only by accessed by boat. The glacier is 1,050 metres above sea level, affording some great views for those who climb up to it, and it is possible to undertake ice-hiking on the glacier. In the winter, a ski resort opens here, and there is a chairlift to make the ascent easier.
