This is a really hard question! There were special moments every step along the way, in every location. But….I would have to say that waking up around 6:30 on our first morning at Chalten Camp (that is, our first morning in Patagonia) and seeing the pink sunrise light on the peaks was my first glimpse of just how incredible this trip would be. And that was just the first most memorably moment! Truly awe-inspiring.

My very first trek in Patagonia came in El Cheltan on the Laguna de los Tres trail. It's most memorable b/c it was the first confirmation of my readiness for my trip (fitness and general preparedness in terms of gear and layering system), incredible views of Mt. Fitz Roy with great weather and just an all around awesome day. I also want to shout out Walk Patagonia for the great coordination of my time in El Chalten and El Calafate. And a very special shout out for my guide in El Chalten! Franco took me on two sole guided tours and was so great. He really made my experience wonderful and I left with much more than a guide, but a friend.

It's hard to pick just one but I really enjoyed the challenge of the Base of the Towers hike in the snow. It was a beautiful hike and I loved walking through the valley, the the forest, and then the step climb to the lake. Our guide Martin was great - we learned a lot about Patagonia but with a good balance of quiet time to be present and enjoy our surroundings as well. The towers were covered when we got there, but it was a good reminder that it's about the journey :).

It is really hard to pick one the whole trip was amazing. But I'll say the moment I got to my room and looked out at the stunning view of the river and the Torres del Paine peaks. I never tired of looking at that view.

Awasi service was extraordinary. The guide (Ignatio) could not have been a more perfect match for the three of us. He was accommodating, knowledgeable, pleasant, and a real blast to be around.

Hiking to the base of the Towers in the dark, wind, and then snow (!) in very cloudy conditions all on our own, only to have the clouds open up and blue skies and views slowly appear before our eyes when we arrived at the top. So completely worth it!
