Iconic Sights of Southern Patagonia Tour

This action-packed group tour takes in the very best of Patagonia. Trek in Los Glaciares National Park for views of the Fitz Roy massif before heading south to the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier. Continue on to Torres del Paine National Park for three days of superb hiking then travel overland to Ushuaia and retrace Darwin's route along the Beagle Channel.

Are you hoping to travel before March 2023?

Patagonia's a big trip and we know how crucial it is to get it right. As you’re considering travelling in the next couple of months, we want to be upfront with you…

Finding available accommodation is proving almost impossible in Torres del Paine and Los Glaciares National Parks. While not uncommon, the pandemic has exacerbated the situation this year.

Alongside this, Swoop are also currently focused on ensuring that all of the logistics are in place for our booked travellers who are due to head south shortly.

Swoop has therefore decided to no longer accept any new bookings departing before the beginning of March 2023.

As alternative options, here’s what we suggest:

Option A:

Push your trip back and choose to travel instead in early 2023. April onwards has more accommodation options still available. The Patagonian autumnal colours are stunning and trails less crowded.

Option B:

Defer your Patagonia adventure by 12 months, benefitting by getting exactly the trip you want without compromise, and lock in plans now while there’s still good availability.

If you are able to be flexible on your travel dates, the next step would then be for us to arrange a time to talk through the options.

Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Buenos Aires

As there are no planned activities until an evening welcome meeting, you can explore the city after checking into the hotel. If time allows, try to visit the districts of La Boca, Recoleta, and San Telmo, or catch a tango show. Booking pre- or post-trip accommodation is highly recommended to fully experience this vibrant city.

Our adventure begins in the evening. Arrive in time to meet the group and your Chief Experience Officer (CEO) will share the details of the days ahead. Throughout the trip you'll be accompanied by both the CEO and the local guide, benefiting from the knowledge of both.

Please note that normal check-in times apply at our first night hotels, but you can usually store your luggage for the day if you arrive early.

Accommodation: Hotel Dazzler San Telmo

Day 5: Perito Moreno Glacier guided tour

Today we travel to Perito Moreno Glacier for a guided tour, inlcuded in your trip. Experience the natural wonder of the glacier, one of the world's few 'advancing' glaciers. We'll head to the southern end of Los Glaciares National Park, where Moreno's 60m (197ft) wall of ice sporadically chokes off the narrow Canal de los Tempanos (Iceberg Channel) creating a natural ice dam, eventually exploding in a dynamic display of force.

There is an option to take a boat trip on the lake and get a different view of the stunning landscape and marvel at how large the glacier actually is when up close. This boat trip (additional cost of USD $25 per person), which lasts approximately 1hr, is one of the most popular excursions and is not to be missed. You'll embark from the floating dock in the south arm of Lago Argentino and navigate along the Canal de los Tempanos towards the front wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier where most of the ice calving takes place.

Day 6: Transfer to Puerto Natales

We'll enter the Torres del Paine National Park and continue for another 30mins to the start point of the trek at Las Torres campsite. A local guide will lead the way and the CEO will act as sweep, keeping everyone together. We'll hike about 4-5hrs to the base of Las Torres where we'll see the spectacular three towers and turquoise lagoon below.
