Magellan Straits

This is a highly tidal waterway separating Tierra del Fuego from the mainland.

It's possible to cross the straits by ferry, from Punta Arenas to Tierra del Fuego. It's then a 12 hour bus journey down to Ushuaia.

Adventure cruises on the Magellan Straits and Beagle Channel afford visitors to this region the chance to get up close to glaciers, waterfalls, penguin colonies and more. The southern tip of Patagonia is home to some incredible spectacles, many of which can only be accessed from the water. Several cruises here also allow you to see Cape Horn.
