Guide to Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve

The Huilo Huilo Bilogical Reserve was established in the early 2000's to protect the precious rainforest from de-forestation and logging. The founders wanted to transform the surrounding communities from being wholly dependant on forestry to becoming more focused on conservation and sustainability.

The entrepreneurial spirit of the local people embraced the changes and slowly adapted to offering sustainable tourism in the area.

The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve continues to grow with an additional 40,000 hectares incorporated into its protection over recent years.
